Pre-K Program
The Pre-K program at OLDN is designed for children who know their letters, numbers, colors, shapes, and have good concepts of print, phonemic awareness skills, and beginning phonics skills. In the Pre-K program, students are challenged through strategies, activities, and play to read fluently, work on comprehension and retelling skills, as well as basic math skills. In addition, children are given nightly/weekly work through home/school portfolios that promote literacy. Pre-K students will work at their level with the preschool teacher and prepare for Kindergarten placement by developing skills that meet or exceed the National and State Standards. Parents are asked to work and read with their children and communicate often with the Pre-K teacher. |
